Twenty persons with disabilities in Katakwi District received wheelchairs worth 60 million shillings donated by Opul Skilling Foundation Africa and its partners.

The handover was made on behalf of Vice President (Retd.) Major Jessica Alupo during a function attended by district leaders, disability advocates, and members of the community.

The initiative is intended to improve mobility for the beneficiaries while highlighting the importance of supporting persons with disabilities through both public and private sector partnerships.

Opul Skilling Foundation Africa has been implementing community-based programs aimed at improving the welfare of vulnerable groups through practical interventions in different parts of the country.

For many persons with disabilities in rural communities, access to mobility aids remains limited, often affecting their ability to access education, healthcare, and income-generating activities.

John Francis Omerikori, the District Chairperson for Persons with Disabilities in Katakwi, highlights the concerns affecting the disability community.
