Vice President Alupo Rallies Ugandans To Embrace Agriculture

The Vice President of Uganda H.E Maj. Jessica Alupo has challenged Ugandans on commercial farming practices.

While presiding over a fundraising occasion at Merryland High School in Kibaale, she said agriculture is a measure that will uplift Uganda’s household incomes.

Rtd. Maj. Jessica Alupo, the Vice President of Uganda insists that agriculture can turn around the development trajectory of our country.

While addressing a congregation at a fundraising drive to complete a classroom block at Merryland High School in Nyamarunda Town council Kibaale district, the vice president asked Ugandans to put emphasis on commercial farming at household level to spur development.

Alupo says there are seven areas where emphasis has been put to realize development and among them are fish farming, coffee, fruits, poultry and piggery which she says can be managed at every homestead.

Alupo says the president will soon start a nationwide campaign to promote these commercial agronomic practices to ensure every Ugandan is able to earn. She applauded Bunyoro leadership for preserving the environment.

Godfrey Muwonge, the Kibaale District Chairperson asked the Vice President to task the National Forestry Authority to open forest boundaries of Kagombe Central Forest Reserve so that the community can live peacefully.

The fundraising drive raised UG Shs 200M.
