The Minister for Bunyoro Affairs has urged young people across Uganda to embrace vocational training as a pathway to employment and self-reliance. The call was made during the 7th Graduation Ceremony of St. Simon Vocational Institute in Hoima, where 122 students graduated in various technical disciplines.

A total of 122 graduates received qualifications in vocational fields including carpentry, motor vehicle mechanics, electrical engineering and other technical disciplines during the 7th Graduation Ceremony of St. Simon Vocational Institute in Hoima.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Minister for Bunyoro Affairs, Hon. Grace Mary Mugasa, said vocational education equips young people with practical skills needed to compete in today's job market. She noted that the government continues to promote skills development as a key strategy for addressing youth unemployment and improving livelihoods.

The Principal of St. Simon Vocational Institute, Richard Alikira Lunar, commended the graduates for their dedication and urged them to uphold discipline, integrity and hard work as they begin their careers.

The Institute's Chaplain, Rev. Fr. Joseph Bigirwa, together with the Registrar, Sam Ayebale, encouraged the graduates to pursue further education and continue upgrading their professional skills.

Some of the graduates expressed gratitude to their parents and guardians for supporting them throughout their studies, saying they are ready to use their skills to build successful careers and contribute to community development.

As Uganda continues to promote technical and vocational education, leaders say equipping young people with practical skills remains critical in reducing unemployment, creating jobs and driving the country's socio-economic transformation.
