
VP Alupo Urges Arua Communities To Prioritize Education
The Vice President, Maj. (Rtd) Jessica Alupo, has called on parents in Arua district to prioritize education, leveraging the prevailing peace and security to educate their children.
Alupo emphasized the importance of educating all children irrespective of their religions, including those with physical and mental disabilities, without any discrimination.
This was during a fundraising ceremony for the construction of Irishad Mosque in Arua Central in the West Nile region.

(Rtd) Jessica Alupo, graced the event as chief guest on the invitation of Hon. Atima Jackson, MP for Arua Municipality. This project is expected to cost SHS 1.03b, and currently the construction works are at the walling stage.
Making her remarks, the Vice President stressed the relevance of educating all children irrespective of their religions, including those with physical and mental disabilities, without any discrimination, calling on parents in West Nile to prioritize education.
She also acknowledged the importance of spirituality in maintaining morality. To this effect, she paid tribute to the late Pope Francis, acknowledging his humility.
She further told the people of Arua to make the best use of the recently commissioned wider 289km Kole – Gulu – Nebbi – Arua 132 kilovolt transmission line, among other projects, which has provided reliable, quality power supply to Arua District and surrounding areas.
Ahead of the highly anticipated 2026 general elections, Alupo urged those vying for elective positions to exercise mature politics as she reassured the people of a fair and peaceful election period.
At the event, the vice president contributed shs.10m towards the modern storied mosque, whose construction has reached 20 percent completion, while the commercial building component stands at a 60% completion rate, according to site engineers.
