
Wazalendo SACCO Opens New Branch In Singo
The UPDF 1st Division Commander, Brigadier General Joseph Ssemwanga, has appealed to the Army leadership to channel the salaries of soldiers through the UPDF’s Wazalendo Savings and Credit Cooperative Society (SACCO).
Brig. Ssemanga made the call during the opening of a new office of the Wazalendo Sacco in Singo, Nakaseke District.
Wazalendo SACCO, where all UPDF soldiers mandatorily save, is one of the largest Saccos in Uganda.
The leadership of the Wazalendo Savings and Credit Cooperative Society (WASACCO) has launched its 9th cash operating branch in Singo, Nakaseke district.
The UPDF 1st Division Commander, Brigadier General Joseph Ssemwanga, who officiated at the commissioning of the branch, represented the Commander Land Forces Lt. Gen Kayanja Muhanga.
He encouraged the UPDF leadership to channel the salaries of all soldiers, through the Wazalendo Sacco since the soldiers also subscribe to the SACCO.
Brig Gen Ssemwanga noted that the opening of the 9th Wasacco cash operations branch in Siwill enable the members to access services more conveniently and improve their welfare. The members will enjoy the different products offered by SACCO.
The Wasacco Chief Executive Officer, Colonel Joseph Freddy Onata pledged that they can serve the members better, noting that opening up more cash branches and service delivery innovations such as Waza mobile will improve the experience of members.
Colonel Onata added that Wasacco can process salaries for the members and guard them against inconvenienccash-operatingayed payments, queuing for services, long distances to access the s services, and other incurred expenses.
The Director of Operations at Wasacco, William Atalyeba said that from the tightly opened s of eral cash operating branches in n different parts of the country, there has been a visible positive difference in service delivery and income generated to the SACCO.
He added that the WASACCO leadership will explore other innovations like agency banking in areas that have a lot of members, to allow them to access all commercial banks to send or receive cash within and outside Uganda, including UPDF soldiers serving in missions outside Uganda.
