The Wealth Creation Village continues to attract thousands of visitors at the 32nd National Agricultural Show in Jinja City, with agricultural stakeholders showcasing practical innovations aimed at transforming farming into a profitable enterprise. From financial literacy for Parish Development Model beneficiaries to skills training by the Uganda Prisons Service, exhibitors say practical knowledge is key to wealth creation and sustainable livelihoods.

The Wealth Creation Village at the 32nd National Agricultural Show is providing farmers with practical demonstrations designed to transform agriculture into a profitable business.

The Uganda Prisons Service is using the exhibition to demonstrate how livestock farming can improve livelihoods.

Speaking during a media tour organized by the Operation Wealth Creation Office, the officer in charge of livestock at the Uganda Prisons Service, SP Generous Behabura, says farmers should utilize the one million shillings provided under the Parish Development Model to establish viable income-generating agricultural enterprises, regardless of the resources they currently possess.

Behabura adds that Uganda Prisons Service is also equipping inmates with practical agricultural and livestock management skills, enabling them to earn a living and reintegrate successfully into their communities after completing their prison sentences.

The media tour was conducted during the ongoing 32nd National Agricultural Show in Jinja City, which began on 26th June and will run until 5th July 2026. Edward Katende, executive director of the Uganda Development Forum, says the Practical Development Centre is equipping farmers with the skills needed to become host farmers who can train fellow farmers in their communities.

Katende says beneficiaries of the Parish Development Model (PDM) are also receiving practical training in financial management to ensure that the one million shillings they receive is invested in sustainable income-generating enterprises.

He adds that demonstrations at the Wealth Creation Village are focused on addressing unemployment through practical agricultural enterprises that create jobs and improve household incomes.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Uganda National Farmers Federation, Perez Kawumi, says the exhibition is promoting good agricultural practices to help farmers increase productivity and earn more from their enterprises.

Kawumi calls for stronger collaboration among stakeholders, including the Bank of Uganda, Operation Wealth Creation, and the Uganda Prisons Service, to support farmers with knowledge and practical solutions.

Andy Okilol, representing the Sasakawa Africa Association, says the organization is working closely with the Parish Development Model to strengthen farmers' capacity through sensitization, improved farming technologies, value addition, and other interventions aimed at increasing agricultural production

Stakeholders believe the Wealth Creation Village will continue to empower farmers with practical skills, financial knowledge, and modern farming technologies needed to increase productivity, create employment opportunities, and drive Uganda's socio-economic transformation through agriculture.
