Uganda’s 12th Parliament has officially commenced its swearing-in ceremonies following the 2026 general elections, with leaders pledging renewed commitment to service delivery, poverty eradication, and reforms aimed at improving the welfare of Ugandans.

Parliamentary precincts came alive early this morning as Members of Parliament-elect arrived for the first day of the official swearing-in exercise.

The ceremony, which began at exactly 8:00 AM, marked the formal start of the 12th Parliament, bringing together returning legislators and newly elected representatives from across the country.

Among the first leaders sworn in were the Vice President, the Prime Minister, the Speaker of Parliament, and several senior government officials who officially took an oath to begin another parliamentary term.

Vice President and Katakwi District Woman Member of Parliament, retired Major Jessica Alupo, thanked voters for renewing their trust in her leadership and pledged to continue prioritizing service delivery, especially in the health and education sectors.

Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja, who also serves as Kakumiro District Woman Member of Parliament, highlighted progress registered in her constituency while promising to intensify efforts aimed at fighting poverty and extending essential services to underserved communities.

First Deputy Prime Minister Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga also reaffirmed her commitment to continue advocating for improved livelihoods and better public services for the people of Kamuli District and Uganda at large.

Meanwhile, other legislators used the occasion to call for reforms and more effective leadership within the new Parliament.

The swearing-in exercise will continue over the next two days as Uganda completes the formation of the 12th Parliament, setting the stage for a new legislative term focused on governance, accountability, and national development.
