Buganda Kingdom Takes Free Health Camp And Affordable Insurance To Kikubo:Thousands Turn Up As Buganda Kingdom Rolls Out Free Health Camp In Kampala.Kikubo Residents Embrace Buganda's Tubele

Hundreds of people thronged Kikubo in Central Kampala today as the Buganda Kingdom, through the Kabaka Foundation and its health partners, conducted a free medical camp aimed at improving access to healthcare. The outreach also featured the launch of the Tubele Balamu Health Insurance initiative, an affordable medical insurance scheme designed to help low-income families access quality healthcare. Our reporter has the details.

Hundreds of residents turned up at Kikubo in Central Kampala to benefit from a free health camp organized by the Buganda Kingdom through the Kabaka Foundation, in partnership with various healthcare providers.

The event was attended by Buganda Kingdom officials, who reaffirmed the Kingdom's commitment to improving the health and well-being of its people.

The medical outreach also introduced the Tubele Balamu Health Insurance scheme, an affordable insurance initiative aimed at helping people who cannot afford expensive medical cover.

The Tubele Balamu Health Insurance program, championed by the Kabaka, offers comprehensive health insurance at only 198,000 Uganda shillings per year. Implemented in partnership with Jubilee Health Insurance, the initiative attracted many residents, with several enrolling on the spot.

The health camp offered a wide range of free medical services, including screening for sickle cell disease, Hepatitis B and C, malaria and typhoid testing and treatment, and eye care services, as well as public awareness on Ebola prevention.

Representing the Kampala Lord Mayor, Dr. Judith Nalukwago commended the Kabaka Foundation for extending free healthcare services to the people of Kampala, Buganda, and Uganda at large.

She noted that, beyond the free treatment, the affordable Tubele Balamu health insurance scheme will enable low-income earners to access quality healthcare at a much lower cost. She also applauded the people of Kikubo for embracing the opportunity.

The Kingdom's Attorney General, Owek. Christopher Bwanika, who officiated as the chief guest, encouraged residents to take advantage of the health services whenever they are offered, particularly the Tubele Balamu Health Insurance program, which he said reflects the Kabaka's commitment to improving the welfare of his people.

He also conveyed greetings from the Kabaka and reaffirmed the Kingdom's determination to continue investing in initiatives that promote better healthcare for the people of Buganda.

The Buganda Kingdom says it will continue expanding community health outreaches and promoting affordable health insurance to ensure more people can access quality medical care, especially those who have long been excluded by the high cost of healthcare.
