Excitement As MPs Take Oath for Uganda’s 12th Parliament: Jubilations Mark Swearing-In of Newly Elected Members of Parliament. Akifeza, Aogon, Betty Acan Sworn in as 12th Parliament Begins

Excitement and celebration have today engulfed Parliament as newly elected Members of Parliament officially took an oath to serve in Uganda’s 12th Parliament. Hundreds of supporters gathered to witness the historic moment as leaders pledged to represent their constituents during the new legislative term.

Scenes of celebration and excitement unfolded at Parliament as Members of Parliament were sworn in to officially begin work in Uganda’s 12th Parliament.

Supporters carrying banners, party colors, and placards cheered and danced outside Parliament as their leaders completed the oath-taking ceremony.

Among those sworn in was Kisoro District Woman Member of Parliament Grace Akifeza Ngabirano, who officially commenced her first full term in Parliament.

Akifeza first entered Parliament through a by-election following the death of former State Minister for Defense Sarah Mateke Nyirabashitsi before later winning the general election to retain the seat.

While speaking shortly after taking the oath, Akifeza pledged to focus on service delivery and unity among the people of Kisoro District.

She also thanked voters for renewing their trust in her leadership and promised to work closely with local leaders to promote development.

Her supporters later held celebrations in Kitende, where hundreds gathered to congratulate her upon the successful swearing-in.

Kumi Municipality Member of Parliament Silus Aogon also took an oath and pledged support for government programs aimed at fighting poverty and improving household incomes.

Former Leader of Opposition Betty Acan Aol, now Woman Member of Parliament for Gulu City, was also sworn in and vowed to continue advocating for issues affecting ordinary Ugandans in the new Parliament.

The swearing-in exercise for Members of Parliament is expected to continue until Friday as more legislators officially begin their five-year mandate in Uganda’s 12th Parliament.
