Residents of Karambi Mirami in Kasese District gathered at Mirami Church of Uganda in South Rwenzori Diocese for a thanksgiving service organized to celebrate academic achievement and encourage education within the community.
The function attracted believers, students, education stakeholders, and leaders from across the district.
The Thanksgiving celebrated individuals who attained different academic milestones, including professors, PhD holders, Master’s Degree graduates, and degree holders.
The service was led by Rt. Rev. Nason Baluku under the theme “Give Thanks to the Lord for He is Good.”
While preaching, Bishop of South Rwenzori Diocese, Rt. Rev. Nason Baluku, encouraged parents and young people to prioritize education, describing it as a foundation for transformation and self-reliance. He also urged Christians to trust in God as the provider of all things.

Speaking after the service, Bishop Baluku expressed concern over increasing school dropouts and early marriages in Kasese.
He urged parents to keep children, especially girls, in school and provide them with the necessary scholastic materials.
The function was attended by Dr. Crispus Kiyonga, Chancellor of Makerere University. Dr. Kiyonga praised the community for embracing education and investing in future generations.
He encouraged educated people to return home with ideas that can solve local challenges such as food security, land management, and education.
Kasese District Education Officer Thabugha Ernest Bwambale also commended the community for promoting academic excellence. He said the increasing number of people attaining PhDs and professorships shows growing education standards in the district. He also called for the establishment of a government university in Kasese.
Area Archdeacon Ven. Mali Wilson thanked all guests and believers who attended the thanksgiving service.
He said the church will continue promoting education alongside spiritual growth.
