Kitintale Parish Celebrates First Priestly Induction as Rt. Rev. Moses Banja Calls for Trust in God

Kitintale, Uganda — The spiritual renewed vibes filled St. John’s Church in Kitintale Parish as the community warmly welcomed Rev. Christopher Kisaakye as their first-ever Parish Priest, following the church's elevation to parish status on January 1, 2025. The historic event was presided over by Rt. Rev. Moses Banja, Bishop of Namirembe Diocese, during an inspiring ceremony that drew church leaders, government officials, and parishioners alike.

The atmosphere was thick with joy and celebration as Christians gathered for the inauguration and induction ceremony. The service began with a colorful procession, led by Bishop Banja, who was accompanied by his wife, Can. Prof. Olivia Nassaka Banja. The church was filled with heartfelt hymns and fervent prayers as everyone looked forward to a new chapter in the parish’s life.

Delivering the main sermon, Bishop Banja emphasized the importance of obedience to Jesus Christ, drawing from Luke 5. He urged Rev. Kisaakye and the congregation to remain faithful and obedient to God's voice to achieve success in their spiritual journey. The Bishop also called on Christians to deepen their prayer and fasting life, trusting that God has the power to accomplish all things.

As Uganda prepares for the 2026 general elections, Bishop Banja encouraged the faithful to seek divine wisdom and guidance, praying for righteous leadership and peace in the nation.

At 2 pm, Rev. Christopher Kisaakye was officially inaugurated and inducted as Kitintale Parish’s first priest. His acceptance was celebrated with cheers and rejoicing from the congregation. In his acceptance speech, Rev. Kisaakye expressed gratitude for the support received and shared his vision for the parish. He vowed to focus on spiritual growth, community outreach, and nurturing new believers.

During the service, 18 individuals committed their lives to Christ, marking a significant spiritual milestone for Kitintale Parish. The church, established in 1976, was granted parish status earlier this year under the guidance of Ven. Rev. Canon Geoffrey Kakooza and Lay-reader Derick Mpagi, symbolizing its growing importance in the community.

The event was a true celebration of faith, unity, and hope for the future, as the community looks forward to continued spiritual development under Rev. Kisaakye’s leadership.
