Opposition Condemns Mpondwe Lhubiriha Ss Massacre By ADF

The shadow minister for internal affairs and Mukono North Member of Parliament Abdhala Kiwanuka has condemned the recent allied democratic forces (ADF) attacker that saw over 40 students lose their lives.

On Friday, 16th June assailants who are believed to be ADF attacked Mpondwe Lhubiriha S S on the Mpodwe border in the Kasese district where they killed students, burnt dormitories, looted food, and abducted students.

Kiwanuka wants the UPDF to avail Ugandans with a report showing how far they have gone in attempts to retrieve the abducted students.

37 students have been confirmed to have died in the Friday night Mpondwe Lhubiriha s.s attacks by unknown assailants who are believed to be ADF.

The assailants burnt down two dormitories, injuring 3 students and abducting 6 students.

Today the opposition through the office of the shadow minister for internal affairs Abdhala Kiwanuka has come out to condemn the attack. Kiwanuka says the act of killing innocent civilians is cowardly.

Kiwanuka however wants security organs including the UPDF to be held accountable for failing to protect Ugandans.

Kiwanuka says such acts could be the result of a lack of motivation for the men in uniform. It’s reported that these men in uniform might have spent some time without receiving their pay.

The attack came barely a day after the Omusinga of Rwenzururu Charles Mumbere and his co-accused returned home after the office of the DPP dropped terrorism charges against them.
There are some members who are concerned and believe that this might end up being linked to the just freed group.

Whereas the shadow minister believes the army should be held accountable, the minister could not downplay the role of community policing and asked community members to be on alert, stay vigilant, and report any suspected people to security agencies.
