President Museveni Calls for Solutions to Social and Economic Challenges: Emphasizes Wealth Creation and Job Opportunities. Heads Of State Commit to Promoting Peace, Development and Unity
President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has renewed his call for socio-economic transformation as the foundation for fighting poverty in Uganda, making wealth creation and job opportunities central to his 2026–2031 agenda.
Speaking during a state dinner held shortly after his swearing-in ceremony, the president urged leaders, especially within the National Resistance Movement, to focus on improving household incomes and livelihoods rather than engaging in divisive politics.
President Yoweri Museveni last evening hosted heads of state, government officials, diplomats, and other invited guests to a state dinner following his official swearing-in ceremony at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds.
During his address, President Museveni reflected on Africa’s historical struggles, including slavery and colonialism, and stressed the importance of unity, self-reliance, and economic empowerment among African nations.
The president emphasized that socio-economic transformation remains the most effective solution to poverty, calling on leaders to prioritize wealth creation, production, and employment opportunities for ordinary citizens.
Vice President Major (Rtd) Jessica Alupo described the inauguration as the beginning of a new phase in implementing the NRM manifesto and government development programs.
NRM Secretary General Richard Todwong said political organizations carry the responsibility of advancing peace, justice, and development for the people.
He pledged continued support towards the implementation of the NRM government’s agenda during the new term.
Leaders and Heads of State attending the event also reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening regional cooperation aimed at promoting peace, unity, trade, and sustainable development across Africa.
The dinner celebrations reflected a shared commitment among regional leaders to addressing socio-economic challenges and improving the livelihoods of citizens through cooperation and development partnerships.
