The Archbishop Dr Stephen Kaziimba Has Called For Renewal Amongst Clergy

Luke Alinaitwe

While officially opening the All Clergy Conference at Ndejje University today, the Archbishop of the church of Uganda, The Most Rev Stephen Samuel Kaziimba Mugalu, appealed to the clergy in the church to use this period in renewing themselves.

Over 1700 Clergy of the church of Uganda have gathered at Ndejje University in Luwero  for a 3-day conference which was last held in 2015 at Uganda Christian University Mukono (UCU)

During this period, the men and women have been requested to recommit themselves to God, reunite with God and Christians, and be reformed.

It is a holy ground at Ndejje University in Luwero district following the enormous numbers of clergy around the University. Over 1700 men and women of God in white collars have so far registered attendance and others are still coming in according to the organisers.

The Archbishop of the Church of Uganda is the host of the conference and today he opened up the event.

The Archbishop in his opening remarks noted that the church is under a lot of confusion leaving flocks unsure of where to go. He however believes with God the church is never consumed.

Dr Kazimba Mugalu urged the clergy present to use this time and opportunity to reflect back to God. He encouraged them to renew their faith and also make new friends to widen their network.

Rev. Can. Captain William Ongeng, the provincial Secretary addressed the need of having more clergy join discipleship. He also appreciated the parliament of Uganda and the speaker who directed all cars parked by the roadside to be towed and parked at police, according to the provincial secretary this has caused a number of accidents including the one that occurred in Mukunyu-Kyenjojo District yesterday 11th July 2023 when an Isuzu Bus operated by Link Bus Services crashed into a stationary trailer.

As it is commonly phrased that opportunity only knocks once, The Vice Chancellor, of Ndejje University Rev. Canon Professor Olivia Nassaka Banja appealed to the clergy to support an ongoing plan of constructing a 2000-seater chapel at the main campus.

The opening ceremony of the conference was constituted with a sermon which was shared by Rev Canon Joy Mukisa from Busoga diocese. Rev Joy preached unity and urged clergy to unite in order to be stronger and serve the Lord.
