
ULS Demands Justice, Protest Against Judicial Misconduct Looms
The Uganda Law Society is ready to protest against judicial misconduct and recommend reforms in response to growing concerns about corruption and unethical practices within the judiciary.
Addressing members of the legal fraternity and the public at the ULS Headquarters in Kampala today, Uganda law society President, Senior Counsel Isaac Ssemakadde, stated that the initiative is part of broader efforts to restore integrity and accountability to Uganda’s justice system.
Uganda Law Society President, Senior Counsel Isaac Ssemakadde, today spoke against rampant misconduct among judicial officers. He emphasized that the law has failed to uphold Judicial Service Commission regulations, specifically regarding lawyer appointments
Ssemakadde stressed the need for accountability and transparency within the judiciary. The ULS is advocating for reforms to address the slow disposal of cases, which undermines trust in the judicial system
In addition, ssemakadde stated that concerns were raised about favoritism and misconduct within the judicial system, affecting many lawyers.
He notes that these allegations highlight the need for transparency and accountability in the judiciary, ensuring that the legal profession maintains its integrity and upholds the principles of justice calling for openness in voting for all

The society Vice President weighed in, stating that the President's speech was intended for the public, as it's their mandate to inform and serve the community.
